1-MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative Foster House Resolution 65 (As Adopted by House) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING CENTRAL HINDS ACADEMY COUGARS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM UPON WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS (MAIS) 2024-2025 CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. WHEREAS, Central Hinds Academy Cougar Boys Basketball Team and Coach James Crain and Coach Josh Flynt are being celebrated and honored upon being crowned the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) 2024-2025 Class 4A State Champions; and WHEREAS, members of this dynamic championship team are as follows: John Ryan Hall, Price Foil, Connor Purvis, Walt Saums, Elijah Taylor, Cooper Loftin, Gabe Hammond, Wesley Lindsey, Hayes Germany, Landon Harvey, Fischer Uzzle and Tyler Flynt; and WHEREAS, first-year Central Hinds Coach James Crain, who is the second winningest boys basketball coach in Mississippi history with 1,065 career wins and 10 state championships in his 40-career seasons, led the Cougars to a 27-10 record, being undefeated in the playoffs as well as led them to ride a 10-game winning streak, which speaks to his ability to bring out the best in the Cougars; and WHEREAS, the Cougars, who have grown to be known for their defense and for their "don't give in" attitude, have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitudes reflect great credit upon the dedicated student-athletes, their coaches, fans and bring great honor to Central Hinds Academy; and WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize outstanding student-athletes, especially those such as the Central Hinds Academy Cougar Boys Basketball Team, whose athletic excellence and hard work bring honor to their school, their community and the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Central Hinds Academy Cougar Boys Basketball Team, Coach James Crain and Coach Josh Flynt upon winning the 2024-2025 Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Class 4A State Championship and extend sincerest wishes for continued success in all their future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Coach James Crain, Coach Josh Flynt, Central Hinds Academy and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
