| 1 | | - | MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative Creekmore IV House Resolution 72 (As Adopted by House) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING KIRK LEWIS FOR BEING NAMED THE MISSISSIPPI MANUFACTURERS ASSOCIATION'S CHAIRMAN OF THE BOARD FOR 2024-2025. WHEREAS, Kirk Lewis, President of Blue Springs Metals, LLC in Blue Springs, was named the Mississippi Manufacturers Association's (MMA) Chairman of the Board for 2024-2025, making him the first African American to hold this position at MMA; and WHEREAS, a former Deputy Mayor and Chief of Staff for the City of Detroit, Mr. Lewis has over 30 years of executive and financial management experience; and WHEREAS, Mr. Lewis is an ideal fit for the role of chairman of MMA because of his business experience and leadership abilities at Blue Springs Metals, LLC, which is a full-service steel processing service center which specializes in slitting, blanking, and warehousing with a product range that includes flat-rolled steel, hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, exposed and coated steel products, and oil country tubular goods; and WHEREAS, during his role as chairman, Mr. Lewis will lead MMA's Board for the next year and work together with MMA's partners to help elevate the manufacturing industry in Mississippi, and he is looking forward to working alongside the talented members of the MMA to further its goals of innovation, job creation and industry advancement; and WHEREAS, additionally, as chairman, Mr. Lewis will continue the 70-year long MMA tradition of representing the interests of Mississippi's manufacturers at both the state and national levels, promoting a strong manufacturing environment within Mississippi, and serving as a central source of information and assistance in industrial management; and WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend fine Mississippians, especially those such as Mr. Kirk Lewis, whose business acumen and tremendous work ethic have brought honor to the Blue Springs community and the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Kirk Lewis for being named the Mississippi Manufacturers Association's Chairman of the Board for 2024-2025 and extend best wishes for continued success in all his future endeavors.
