                            MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative Scoggin House Resolution 73 (As Adopted by House) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING DONNA BLACK ON HER RETIREMENT AFTER 36 YEARS WITH THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY OF JONES COUNTY, MISSISSIPPI.      WHEREAS, Donna Black, Chief Financial Officer of the Economic Development Authority (EDA) of Jones County, is retiring after 36 extraordinary years of dedicated service to the citizens and business community of Jones County, Mississippi; and      WHEREAS, Donna Black's immeasurable contributions over the years to the Jones County Chamber of Commerce and the EDA have been insurmountable, and her unwavering commitment, selflessness and integrity have been a guiding force for employees, board members and community partners alike; and      WHEREAS, throughout her tenure, Donna Black has been more than an employee:  she has been a loyal mentor, natural leader and steadfast supporter of those privileged to work alongside her, as well as a faithful friend when needed, a mother when required, and a firm yet caring force when necessary, ensuring that all who passed through the EDA and Chamber remained focused, driven and accountable; and      WHEREAS, Donna Black's sound guidance has been instrumental in shaping countless emerging business leaders, many of whom now serve on influential boards and organizations, and through her tireless mentorship in Leadership Jones County and Future Leaders of Jones County, she has empowered participants with the skills and confidence needed to uphold and advance the mission of their respective organizations, strengthening leadership across the community; and      WHEREAS, the profound impact Donna Black has had on the business and economic landscape of Jones County and the individual lives of many others will endure for generations to come as a lasting testament to her hard work, perseverance and dedication; and      WHEREAS, while her presence will be greatly missed, Donna Black's next chapter as the Manager of the Laurel Airport Authority is anticipated to be as remarkable as the indelible legacy she leaves behind at the Economic Development Authority; and      WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and pay tribute to outstanding Mississippians, especially those such as Donna Black, whose long and dedicated career has enriched the lives of her fellow citizens and community, bringing honor not only to Jones County but also the entire State of Mississippi:      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Donna Black on her retirement after 36 years of dedicated service to the Economic Development Authority of Jones County and extend to her sincerest wishes for every success in all her future endeavors.      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Donna Black, the Economic Development Authority of Jones County and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
