1-MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representative Hood House Resolution 84 (As Adopted by House) A RESOLUTION MOURNING THE LOSS AND COMMEMORATING THE LIFE, LEGACY AND SERVICE OF MS. PRISCILLA ANN REVES, AND EXPRESSING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS UPON HER PASSING. WHEREAS, it is written in Ecclesiastes 3:1, "To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the Heaven," and as such, the immaculate author and finisher of our soul's destiny summoned the mortal presence of dearly beloved, Ms. Priscilla Ann Reves, to eternal rest on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, as she made life's final transition from earthly toil to heavenly reward, rendering great sorrow and loss to her family, friends and the community of Eupora, Mississippi; and WHEREAS, the City of Eupora and the State of Mississippi lost a devoted educator, historian and cherished community member with the passing of Ms. Reves, a woman whose lifelong dedication to learning and service left an indelible impact on the lives of many, and there is now a hush in our hearts as we come together to pay our respects to the memory of one who has been called to join that innumerable heavenly caravan; and WHEREAS, born as the only child to Mr. Roy Kelly "Buster" Reves and Mrs. Jane Murphy Reves on April 15, 1943, in Eupora, Mississippi, Ms. Reves exhibited an early passion for education and history, graduating from the Eupora school system before earning her degree in secondary education with a specialization in mathematics from Mississippi State University in just three years; and WHEREAS, Ms. Reves committed her professional life to the noble calling of education, teaching advanced mathematics at Eupora High School, where she guided and mentored countless students who went on to become doctors, lawyers, engineers and educators, taking immense pride in their successes; and WHEREAS, after concluding her teaching career, Ms. Reves continued her service to the State of Mississippi as an auditor for the State Auditor's Office, traveling extensively to ensure fiscal responsibility in schools across the state; and WHEREAS, possessing an appreciation for history and antiques, Ms. Reves pursued her passion by operating a small antique shop from her home, preserving and sharing the treasures of the past with the community she so dearly loved; and WHEREAS, a woman of remarkable diligence, Ms. Reves found great joy in working outdoors, meticulously tending to her yard, raking leaves, and caring for her plants, embodying a deep connection to nature and the beauty of the world around her; and WHEREAS, a dedicated historian, Ms. Reves invested years of research into documenting the history of Eupora, culminating in a book that serves as a valuable resource for future generations, and she further demonstrated her meticulous nature in restoring the senior class photos of Eupora High School, ensuring that the legacy of its graduates was preserved; and WHEREAS, her talents extended beyond education and history, as she was an accomplished artist, pianist and craftswoman, excelling in quilting, needlework and home renovation, never hesitating to take on challenging projects with determination and skill; and WHEREAS, relying on the tenets of faith instilled in her by her parents, Ms. Reves remained cognizant of the words recorded in I John 3:2, "Dear friends, now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when Christ appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is," and dedicated her life to Christ; and WHEREAS, a woman of profound generosity, Ms. Reves' selfless benevolence continues to as posthumous endowment with the establishment of a scholarship in her memory for Eupora High School students pursuing STEM fields in college, ensuring that her legacy of academic excellence and dedication to education would continue to benefit future scholars; and WHEREAS, though she traversed life's river to now stand upon the celestial shores in wonderment of Heaven's grandeur in glorious reunion with the kindred spirits of her dear parents, the memories of Ms. Reves will continue to be cherished by her many cousins, former students, and friends who were blessed to have known her and to have been touched by her kindness, wisdom, and passion for learning; and WHEREAS, we encourage those who loved Ms. Reves to find solace in the words recorded in 2 Timothy 4:7, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith," and to hold fast to the knowledge that she now rests in peace; and WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize the lives of such remarkable individuals as Ms. Reves, whose unwavering dedication to education, history and her community serves as an inspiration to all: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby mourn the loss, commemorate the life, legacy and service of Ms. Priscilla Ann Reves, and express deepest sympathy upon her passing to her family and friends.
