                            MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Representatives McMillan, Ford (73rd) House Resolution 93 (As Adopted by House) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MADISON CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL "JAGUARS" BOYS SOCCER TEAM FOR WINNING THE 2024-2025 MISSISSIPPI HIGH SCHOOL ACTIVITIES ASSOCIATION CLASS (MHSAA) 7A BOYS SOCCER STATE CHAMPIONSHIP.      WHEREAS, the Madison Central High School "Jaguars" Boys Soccer Team reigned victorious against Northwest Rankin High School in the 2024-2025 Mississippi High School Activities Association (MHSAA) Class 7A Boys Soccer State Championship in an intense contest that culminated in an eighth-round penalty kick shootout; and      WHEREAS, this championship victory marks the Jaguars' sixth state title in program history and their first since 2021, reinforcing the team's legacy of excellence and dominance in Mississippi high school soccer; and      WHEREAS, throughout the 2024-2025 season, the Jaguars displayed exceptional teamwork, perseverance, and athletic prowess, finishing with an impressive overall record of 17-3-1, including a commanding 7-1 record in region play to secure the regular-season region championship; and      WHEREAS, under the leadership of Head Coach Cecil Hinds, one of the most accomplished soccer coaches in the state, who has now secured ten state titles across both the boys' and girls' soccer programs at Madison Central, the Jaguars maintained an unwavering commitment to excellence that propelled them to the top of Class 7A soccer; and      WHEREAS, during the state tournament, Madison Central demonstrated their dominance by defeating Southaven 2-0 in the first round, Starkville 3-0 in the quarterfinals, Tupelo 4-0 in the semifinals, and ultimately Northwest Rankin in the championship game, which ended in a thrilling 1-1 tie before the Jaguars secured victory in penalty kicks; and      WHEREAS, the Jaguars' championship-clinching goal came from junior Carson Pentecost, who confidently found the back of the net in the eighth round of penalty kicks, sealing Madison Central's triumph and sending their fans into celebration; and      WHEREAS, the Jaguars' success was driven by outstanding performances from key players, including junior Tanner Nichols, who led the team with 13 goals, and senior Braden Buchanan, who finished the season as the team's assist leader with nine, while also contributing 12 goals; and      WHEREAS, Head Coach Cecil Hinds has superbly coached and inspired the Jaguars and broadened their knowledge of the game while refining their skills in execution, and he continues to build upon the legacy of superior play and true sportsmanship forged by the tenacious and undaunted spirit of each team member, as evidenced in his ability to produce high caliber players and plays and by the team's successful season; and      WHEREAS, the team's success would not have been possible without the help of Assistant Coaches Brad Campbell and Seth Male, who both helped the players reach their fullest potential and achieve greatness; and      WHEREAS, it is the policy of the House of Representatives to recognize and commend the outstanding accomplishments of Mississippi student-athletes, particularly those who, like the Madison Central High School "Jaguars" Boys Soccer Team, bring pride and honor to their school, their community, and the entire State of Mississippi through their commitment to excellence both on and off the field:      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Madison Central High School "Jaguars" Boys Soccer Team and Head Coach Cecil Hinds upon winning the 2024-2025 MHSAA Class 7A Boys Soccer State Championship and extend best wishes for continued success in all their future athletic and academic endeavors.      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Head Coach Cecil Hinds, on behalf of the Madison Central High School "Jaguars" Boys Soccer Team, and to the members of the Capitol Press Corps.
