1-MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) Whaley Senate Resolution 108 (As Adopted by Senate) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE MARSHALL ACADEMY LADY PATRIOTS FAST-PITCH SOFTBALL TEAM AND HEAD COACH JAMIE RAPPA AND ASSISTANT COACH JORDAN WHEELER FOR WINNING THE MAIS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP. WHEREAS, we join fans of the 2024 Marshall Academy Fast-Pitch Softball Team (27-9) in honoring the team and coaches for a third consecutive MAIS AAAA State Championship; and WHEREAS, the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools (MAIS) Class AAAA Championship matchup began on October 9, 2024, at the Amite School Center in Liberty, Mississippi. On October 10, the best 2-of-3 series continued with game two taking place at Gibson Field, home of the Lady Patriots, who took control and defeated the Amite Lady Rebels 13-3 in the fifth inning; and WHEREAS, following the game, Lady Patriots' fans lined the field and honored seniors, Rachel Noble, Landry Loper and Ava Ables with one last lap around the bases; and WHEREAS, on October 12, 2024, the Lady Patriots traveled to Amite for game three and captured their third consecutive MAIS AAAA Fast-Pitch Championship, defeating the Lady Rebels, 12-8; and WHEREAS, the 2024 Marshall Academy Lady Patriots Fast-Pitch Softball Team Roster: Seniors: Ava Ables, Landry Loper and Rachel Noble; Juniors: Aurora Cervantes, Charlie Johnson, Eliza Cavender, Gracie Rappa, Luci Tomlinson and Madison Layson; Freshmen: Aubrey Brigance, Kyleigh Million and Danielle Thomas; Eighth Grade: Katie Lynes; Seventh Grade: Esme Cavender and Kendall Matthews; and Head Coach Jamie Rappa and Assistant Coach Jordan Wheeler; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize these student athletes who have brought honor to their school, their community and to the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Marshall Academy Lady Patriots Fast-Pitch Softball Team and Head Coach Jamie Rappa and Assistant Coach Jordan Wheeler for winning the MAIS 4A State Championship, and extend to the team, coaches, parents and sponsors our best wishes for continued championships.
