MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) Whaley Senate Resolution 109 (As Adopted by Senate) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COMMUNITY COLLEGE RANGERS DANCE TEAM AND HEAD COACH PATRICE CHRISTIAN FOR WINNING BACK-TO-BACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS IN THE OPEN HIP-HOP DIVISION AT THE UDA NATIONALS IN ORLANDO, FLORIDA. WHEREAS, the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Dance Team, under the leadership of Head Coach Patrice Christian, has achieved remarkable success by securing back-to-back National Championships in the Open Hip-Hop Division at the prestigious Universal Dance Association (UDA) Nationals in Orlando, Florida; and WHEREAS, the team's outstanding performance at the 2025 UDA Nationals earned them a raw score of 99.9333 and an event score of 95.1746 in the finals, finishing ahead of strong competitors, and demonstrating their superior talent and dedication to excellence; and WHEREAS, the team's journey to the championship included a semifinal performance that advanced them to the finals with a raw score of 97.85 and an event score of 93.1905, solidifying their reputation as a powerhouse in collegiate dance; and WHEREAS, through countless hours of practice, determination and teamwork, the Northwest Dance Team members have exhibited exceptional discipline and perseverance, serving as outstanding representatives of their college and the State of Mississippi; and WHEREAS, under the insightful and accomplished leadership of Head Coach Patrice Christian, the Rangers did an exceptional job of covering each other's faults and unifying all of their strengths to make a good team and ultimately executing an outstanding job working toward the accomplishment of this highly pursued goal; and WHEREAS, the 2024-2025 Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Dance Team Roster: Evan Anderson, Leilanie Ayala, Jayden Baker, Emma Bichon, Kaitlyn Brewer, Damon Butler, Blessyn Davis, Brianna Davis, Lauren Deep, Jade Fletcher, Larissa Gaines, Karmyn Gibbs, Eryanna Gray, Kimberly Hogwood, Amarion Hooks, Jeffery Jones, Ma'Kiyla Powell, Kaitlyn Richardson, Nataliah Robinson, Gabriella Scott, Morgan Scurlock, Kaitlyn Sutton, Kaiya Taylor, Cassidy Walker, Margen Wilson and Janiyah Woods; and Head Coach Patrice Christian; and WHEREAS, the team roster, featuring a diverse and talented group of student-athletes from across Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, and Tennessee, reflects the broad appeal and competitive spirit of the Northwest Dance Program; and WHEREAS, the success of the dance team is also attributed to the unwavering support of their families, friends, Northwest Mississippi Community College administration and the entire Ranger community; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize and commend excellence in collegiate athletes, especially student-athletes such as the Northwest Mississippi Community College Dance Team, whose remarkable achievements have brought pride and honor to their institution and our state: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate the Northwest Mississippi Community College Rangers Dance Team and Head Coach Patrice Christian for winning back-to-back National Championships in the Open Hip-Hop Division at the UDA Nationals in Orlando, Florida, and extend best wishes for continued success in all its future endeavors.
