1-MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) McCaughn, Tate, Simmons (13th), Robinson, Boyd, Hickman Senate Resolution 147 (As Adopted by Senate) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING MADALYN OLIPHANT OF HICKORY, MISSISSIPPI, UPON BEING CROWNED MISS MISSISSIPPI TEEN USA 2025. WHEREAS, we join the citizens of Mississippi in recognizing the first African American contestant to represent Mississippi in the Teen USA National Competition; and WHEREAS, Madalyn Oliphant of Hickory, Mississippi, was crowned Miss Mississippi Teen USA 2025 on March 29, 2025, at the Pearl River Resort in Choctaw, Mississippi. She will represent Mississippi to score a back-to-back victory at the 2025 Miss Teen USA National Competition, joining Addie Carver as consecutive Mississippi winners; and WHEREAS, Maddie is an 18-year-old student at East Central Community College studying pre-nursing with minors in music education and hopes to be a pediatric nurse someday. This is her third time competing for the crown and now becomes the first African American Miss Mississippi Teen USA; and WHEREAS, Maddie stated "This journey is just beginning, and I couldn't be more honored to represent our incredible state. With the support of Greenwood Productions and our amazing sponsors, I know this year will be unforgettable. Mississippi, we're ready to make you proud! Let's do this!"; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize this young Mississippi citizen whose accomplishments have brought honor to her family, her community and to the State of Mississippi: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Madalyn Oliphant of Hickory, Mississippi, upon being crowned Miss Mississippi Teen USA 2025, and extend to Maddie our best wishes for success in the National Competition and in her future academic endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Madalyn Oliphant and her family, forwarded to the Miss Mississippi Teen USA organization and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
