                            MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) Harkins, Kirby, Rhodes Senate Resolution 150 (As Adopted by Senate) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING RANKIN COUNTY SCHOOL SUPERINTENDENT DR. SCOTT RIMES AS THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS 2024 SUPERINTENDENT OF THE YEAR AND RECOGNIZING HIS EXEMPLARY LEADERSHIP ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.      WHEREAS, we join the Rankin County School District and all school administrators in the State of Mississippi in recognizing the outstanding leadership of Dr. Scott Rimes on the occasion of his retirement as longtime Superintendent of the Rankin County School District; and      WHEREAS, after 27 years in education, 22 of those with the Rankin County School District (RCSD), Superintendent Dr. Scott Rimes has announced his retirement.  Dr. Rimes has been a steadfast leader, dedicated to student success, innovation and excellence in education.  His impact on RCSD is immeasurable, and we are grateful for his years of service and for his dedication to all RCSD students, staff and his community.  His leadership has left a lasting legacy; and      WHEREAS, Rankin County Superintendent Dr. Scott Rimes was named the 2024 Mississippi Association of School Administrators (MASA) Superintendent of the Year.  This prestigious recognition highlights Dr. Rimes' exemplary leadership, vision and dedication to advancing educational excellence across the district; and      WHEREAS, Dr. Rimes, who has served as Rankin County School District Superintendent since January 1, 2022, has played a pivotal role in fostering an inclusive and innovative learning environment that prioritizes the success of every student; and      WHEREAS, under his leadership, the district has seen significant improvements in academic performance, student engagement and community partnerships.  His focus on workforce development, literacy and the integration of technology in education has positioned RCSD as a model district in Mississippi; and      WHEREAS, in addition to his work within RCSD, Dr. Rimes is actively involved in various state and national education organizations, advocating for policies that benefit students, educators and the future of education in Mississippi; and      WHEREAS, Dr. Rimes expressed his gratitude for the recognition, stating, "This award is a reflection of the incredible work being done by the entire Rankin County School District team - our board members, students, teachers, staff, administrators and community members.  I am honored to serve in this role, and, together, we will continue to reach new heights in education"; and      WHEREAS, the Superintendent of the Year Award is presented annually by the Mississippi Association of School Administrators to recognize leaders who have demonstrated exceptional achievements in promoting educational excellence and student success; and      WHEREAS, his impact on the Rankin County School District and the field of education in the State of Mississippi has been immeasurable, and we are grateful for his years of dedicated and professional service:      NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Rankin County School Superintendent Dr. Scott Rimes as the Mississippi Association of School Administrators 2024 Superintendent of the Year and recognize his exemplary leadership on the occasion of his retirement, extending our best wishes to Dr. Rimes and his family for future success.      BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That this resolution be presented to Dr. Scott Rimes and his family, forwarded to the Rankin County School Board and the Mississippi Association of School Administrators and be made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
