MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) England Senate Resolution 80 (As Adopted by Senate) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING LAMONT DAVIS FOR BEING SELECTED AS "INSTRUCTOR OF THE YEAR" REPRESENTING THE CENTERS OF THE MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST COMMUNITY COLLEGE. WHEREAS, Lamont Davis, a resident of Gulfport, Mississippi, has been selected as "Instructor of the Year" at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College in recognition of his distinguished service to the college; and WHEREAS, the award was established by the Alumni Association of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College to honor instructors at the college, and the recipient of the award is chosen from nominations submitted by students, faculty and administrators on the basis of their teaching excellence, college service, community service and professional development; and WHEREAS, Lamont Davis, a Maritime Multi-Craft Instructor, has been employed at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College for five years; and WHEREAS, Lamont Davis received his Associate Degree from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, an Engineering Technology Certification from Devry University, a U.S. Navy Construction Mechanic NEC Certification in Mechanics, and a wealth of other outstanding certifications; and WHEREAS, Lamont Davis has worked as a U.S. Navy, Class IV Assistant Officer and Maintenance Supervisor, a Heavy Mobile Equipment Mechanic for the Army Corps of Engineers in New Orleans, a Shop Supervisor for Goodyear Commercial Tire and Service Center, a Shop Foreman and Lead Technician for TSI Diesel Worx, and a CDL Field Supervisor for Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College prior to his career as a Maritime Multi-Craft Instructor at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College; and WHEREAS, it is with great pride that we recognize an outstanding teacher, who has dedicated his career to teaching individuals of this state: NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, That we do hereby commend and congratulate Lamont Davis for being selected as "Instructor of the Year" representing the Centers of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and extend to him our heartiest wishes of success in all his future endeavors. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, THAT this resolution be presented to Lamont Davis, forwarded to the President of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College and made available to the Capitol Press Corps.
