MISSISSIPPI LEGISLATURE 2025 Regular Session To: Rules By: Senator(s) Frazier, Norwood Senate Resolution 91 (As Adopted by Senate) A RESOLUTION COMMENDING AND CONGRATULATING THE RAYMOND HIGH SCHOOL RANGERS BOYS BASKETBALL TEAM AND COACH TONY TADLOCK FOR WINNING BACK-TO-BACK MHSAA CLASS 4A STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS. WHEREAS, when Tony Tadlock took the Raymond coaching job in 2017, he wanted his team to be built on three things: family, brotherhood and culture. From being Mississippi's No. 1 team in 2024, coming off an MHSAA Class 4A Title and losing eight seniors, Coach Tadlock said no one gave them a chance this season; however, Tadlock kept to his mission; and WHEREAS, if fans still had doubts, the March 1, 2025, championship ended them. The Raymond High School Rangers won the MHSAA Class 4A Championship, 48-43, over Morton at Mississippi Coliseum. The Rangers (26-8) defended their 2023-24 title and claimed their seventh overall; and WHEREAS, "This group bought in. They did what we asked them to do," said Coach Tadlock. "They didn't listen to the outside noise, and obviously, now they're state champions"; and WHEREAS, a fourth quarter surge by Morton (22-8) saw the game tied at 41 with under two minutes remaining. But Raymond senior Jadyn Garrett said his team used one motto the whole season in pressure situations, "We good." Behind Garrett who had 13 points, Eli Robinson added nine points for Raymond; and WHEREAS, the eight-year coach knew this year's team would be different.
