2120 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 8
2221 SECTION 1. The University of North Carolina School of Medicine's Area Health 9
2322 Education Centers (NC AHEC) shall consult with the North Carolina Medical Board, North 10
2423 Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, North Carolina Medical Society, North 11
2524 Carolina Pediatric Society, North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, North Carolina Board 12
2625 of Nursing, North Carolina Board of Pharmacy, and the North Carolina Nurses Association to 13
2726 gather evidence-based information on sudden unexpected death in epilepsy from publications 14
2827 and nonprofit organizations to create standard information to provide to all health care 15
2928 practitioners in this State. The information shall include, at a minimum, current and 16
3029 evidence-based information about sudden unexpected death in epilepsy risk factors and 17
3130 conditions and contact information for nonprofit organizations that provide support services for 18
3231 epilepsy conditions. The information shall be made available on NC AHEC's website and readily 19
3332 accessible to health care practitioners in this State. No later than September 1, 2025, NC AHEC 20
3433 shall report to the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health and Human Services a 21
3534 completed summary or booklet of information provided to health care practitioners in the report. 22
3635 SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law. 23
