1514 AN ACT PROVIDING FOR A CONSCIENTIOUS OBJECTION EXEMPTION TO NORTH 2
1615 CAROLINA'S STUDENT VACCINATION REQUIREMENTS . 3
1716 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 4
1817 SECTION 1. G.S. 130A-155(c) reads as rewritten: 5
1918 "(c) The school shall file an annual immunization report with the Department by 6
2019 November 1. The child care facility shall file an immunization report annually with the 7
2120 Department. The report shall be filed on forms prepared by the Department and shall state the 8
2221 number of children attending the school or facility, the number of children who had not obtained 9
2322 the required immunization within 30 days of their first attendance, the number of children who 10
2423 received a medical exemption and the number of children who received a religious or 11
2524 conscientious objection exemption." 12
2625 SECTION 2. G.S. 130A-155.1(c) reads as rewritten: 13
2726 "(c) Within 60 calendar days after the commencement of a new school year, the college 14
2827 or university shall file an immunization report with the Department. The report shall be filed on 15
2928 forms prepared by the Department and shall state the number of students attending the school or 16
3029 facility, the number of students who had not obtained the required immunization within 30 days 17
3130 of their first attendance, the number of students who received a medical exemption and the 18
3231 number of students who received a religious or conscientious objection exemption." 19
3332 SECTION 3. G.S. 130A-157 reads as rewritten: 20
3433 "§ 130A-157. Religious or conscientious objection exemption. 21
3534 If the bona fide religious beliefs of an adult or the parent, guardian or person in loco parentis 22
3635 of a child has religious beliefs or reasons of conscience that are contrary to the immunization 23
3736 requirements contained in prescribed by this Chapter, the adult or and the child shall be are 24
3837 exempt from the these requirements. Upon submission of a written statement of the bona fide 25
3938 religious beliefs or reasons of conscience and opposition to the immunization requirements, the 26
4039 person may attend the college, university, school or facility without presenting a certificate of 27
4140 immunization." 28
4241 SECTION 4. G.S. 115C-76.25(a) reads as rewritten: 29
4342 "§ 115C-76.25. Parent legal rights for their child's education. 30
4443 (a) Parents have legal rights with regards to their child's education, including the 31
