1414 AN ACT DESIGNATING THE FIRST SUNDAY OF JUNE OF EACH YEAR AS 2
1515 CHILDREN'S DAY IN NORTH CAROLINA. 3
1616 Whereas, children represent the future and embody the hopes and aspirations of the 4
1717 people of North Carolina; and 5
1818 Whereas, investing in the health, education, and well-being of our children is 6
1919 paramount to ensuring a prosperous and sustainable society; and 7
2020 Whereas, recognizing the importance of nurturing and protecting our children 8
2121 encourages communities, families, and organizations to collaborate in creating safe and 9
2222 supportive environments; and 10
2323 Whereas, celebrating Children's Day provides an opportunity to acknowledge the 11
2424 achievements and potential of all children, regardless of their background or circumstances; and 12
2525 Whereas, such a day serves to raise awareness about the challenges and issues facing 13
2626 children today, including access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for personal 14
2727 growth; and 15
2828 Whereas, the State of North Carolina is committed to promoting policies and 16
2929 initiatives that support the development and well-being of its youngest residents; Now, therefore, 17
3030 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 18
3131 SECTION 1. Chapter 103 of the General Statutes is amended by adding a new 19
3232 section to read: 20
3333 "ยง 103-19. Day of the child. 21
3434 The first Sunday of June of each year is designated as Children's Day in North Carolina." 22
3535 SECTION 2. This act is effective when it becomes law. 23
