| 17 | 17 | | SECTION 1. The State Highway Patrol shall study and develop legislative 5 |

| 18 | 18 | | recommendations regarding each of the following State Highway Patrol items: 6 |

| 19 | 19 | | (1) The overall staffing size based on the needs of the State. 7 |
|---|
| 20 | 20 | | (2) The troop staffing size based on the needs of specific regions of the State. 8 |
|---|
| 21 | 21 | | (3) The overall salary scale of the Patrol. 9 |
|---|
| 22 | 22 | | (4) The salary scale of each rank within the Patrol. 10 |
|---|
| 23 | 23 | | SECTION 2. No later than March 1, 2026, the State Highway Patrol shall report to 11 |

| 24 | 24 | | the Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Justice and Public Safety, the House 12 |
|---|
| 25 | 25 | | Appropriations Committee on Justice and Public Safety, and the Senate Appropriations 13 |

| 26 | 26 | | Committee on Justice and Public Safety regarding the findings and recommendations required 14 |
|---|
| 27 | 27 | | by Section 1 of this act. 15 |
