1514 AN ACT REPEALING IMMUNIZATION REQUIREMENTS FOR PERSONS WHO 2
1615 ATTEND A COLLEGE OR UNIVERSITY IN NORTH CAROLINA. 3
1716 The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts: 4
1817 SECTION 1. This act shall be known as "The University Vaccination Freedom Act." 5
1918 SECTION 2. G.S. 130A-154(b) reads as rewritten: 6
2019 "(b) Except as otherwise provided in this subsection, a person who received 7
2120 immunizations in a state other than North Carolina shall present an official certificate or record 8
2221 of immunization to the child care facility, school (K-12), or college or university. facility or 9
2322 school (K-12) of attendance. This certificate or record shall state the person's name, address, date 10
2423 of birth, and sex; the type and number of doses of administered vaccine; the dates of the first 11
2524 MMR and the last DTP and polio; the name and address of the physician or local health 12
2625 department administering the required immunization; and other relevant information required by 13
2726 the Commission." 14
2827 SECTION 3. G.S. 130A-157 reads as rewritten: 15
2928 "ยง 130A-157. Religious exemption. 16
3029 If the bona fide religious beliefs of an adult or the parent, guardian or person in loco parentis 17
3130 of a child are contrary to the immunization requirements contained in this Chapter, the adult or 18
3231 the child shall be exempt from the requirements. Upon submission of a written statement of the 19
3332 bona fide religious beliefs and opposition to the immunization requirements, the person may 20
3433 attend the college, university, school or facility without presenting a certificate of immunization." 21
3534 SECTION 4. G.S. 130A-155.1 is repealed. 22
3635 SECTION 5. This act is effective when it becomes law and applies beginning with 23
3736 the 2026-2027 academic year. 24
