| 18 | 19 | | SECTION 1.(a) Notwithstanding any provision of law to the contrary, the Mitchell 7 |

| 19 | 20 | | County Sheriff's Office may enter into memorandums of understanding with the Unicoi County, 8 |

| 20 | 21 | | Tennessee, Sheriff's Office to engage across state lines in law enforcement special operations 9 |

| 22 | 23 | | SECTION 1.(b) Any memorandum of understanding entered into pursuant to this 11 |

| 23 | 24 | | section shall specify the manner in which liability claims for damage to persons or property as a 12 |

| 24 | 25 | | result of law enforcement special operations missions will be shared or assigned. While ensuring 13 |
|---|
| 25 | 26 | | public safety, each memorandum of understanding shall limit to the greatest extent possible the 14 |
|---|
| 26 | 27 | | liability of Mitchell County and the State. 15 |
|---|
| 27 | 28 | | SECTION 2. No later than November 1 of each year, any memorandum of 16 |
|---|
| 28 | 29 | | understanding entered into that year pursuant to this act shall be reported to the Department of 17 |
|---|
| 29 | 30 | | Justice. 18 |

| 30 | 31 | | SECTION 3. This act is effective when it becomes law. 19 |
