HOUSE BILL NO. 1177

AN ACT to amend and reenact subsection 3 of section 54-52-01 of the North Dakota Century Code, 
relating to the definition of correctional officer for purposes of the public employees retirement 
system.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. Subsection 3 of section 54-52-01 of the North Dakota Century Code is 
amended and reenacted as follows:
3."Correctional officer" means a participating member who is employed as a correctional officer 
by a political subdivision. The term includes an individual employed by a correctional facility as 
defined in section 12-44.1-01, who is enrolled in, but has not yet completed, a correctional 
officer course approved or certified by the North Dakota department of corrections and
