7+A BILL for an Act to amend and reenact section 29-06-22 of the North Dakota Century Code,
8+relating to when a private person may break into a building to make an arrest.
9+BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
10+SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. Section 29-06-22 of the North Dakota Century Code is
11+amended and reenacted as follows:
12+29-06-22. When a private person may break into a building.
13+A private person, in order to make an arrest when a felony was committed in the arresting
14+person's presence, as authorized in section 29-06-20, if the person is refused admittance after
15+the person has announced the person's purpose and the person reasonably believes an
16+individual inside is at imminent risk of serious bodily injury or death, may break open a door or
17+window of any building in which the person to be arrested is, or is reasonably believed to be.

7-BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
8-SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. Section 29-06-22 of the North Dakota Century Code is amended and
9-reenacted as follows:
10-29-06-22. When a private person may break into a building.
11-A private person, in order to make an arrest when a felony was committed in the arresting person's
12-presence, as authorized in section 29-06-20, if the person is refused admittance after the person has
13-announced the person's purpose and the person reasonably believes an individual inside is at imminent
14-risk of serious bodily injury or death, may break open a door or window of any building in which the
