12+A BILL for an Act to create and enact a new subsection to section 50-25.1-05 of the North
13+Dakota Century Code, relating to a determination by the department of health and human
14+services of an individual's military status in child abuse and neglect allegationsassessments.
15+BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
16+SECTION 1. A new subsection to section 50-25.1-05 of the North Dakota Century Code is
17+created and enacted as follows:
18+The department or authorized agent shall determine the military status of an any
19+individual subject to an assessment , within a reasonable amount of time, if the
20+individual's child is the subject at the initiation of an a child abuse or neglect
21+allegation assessment . If the department determines an allegation of abuse or neglect
22+involves a military- affiliated individual, the department shall notify the nearest military
23+installation's family advocacy program of the allegation and investigation. The military
24+installation is responsible for reporting the data to the federal department of defense .
25+The department may develop a memorandum of understanding for use by the human
26+service zone. For purposes of this subsection:
27+ a. "Military-affiliated individual" means an individual with an active military status
28+and the individual's dependents.
29+ b. "Military status" includes any branch of the United States military, and the
30+national guard or reserve.

9-BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA:
10-SECTION 1. A new subsection to section 50-25.1-05 of the North Dakota Century Code is created
11-and enacted as follows:
12-The department or authorized agent shall determine the military status of any individual
