11 | 11 | | BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY OF NORTH DAKOTA: |

12 | 12 | | SECTION 1. A new section to chapter 50-06 of the North Dakota Century Code is created |
---|
13 | 13 | | and enacted as follows: |
---|
14 | 14 | | Dementia response program. |
---|
15 | 15 | | The department shall establish a dementia response program to be administered by a state |
---|
16 | 16 | | dementia coordinator. The dementia response program shall: |
---|
17 | 17 | | 1.Implement an Alzheimer's and dementia state plan; |
---|
18 | 18 | | 2.Update the Alzheimer's and dementia state plan every three years by convening a |
---|
19 | 19 | | work group that includes: |
---|
20 | 20 | | a.Individuals living with dementia; |
---|
21 | 21 | | b.Care partners and family members of individuals living with dementia; |
---|
22 | 22 | | c.Representatives of home and facility - based care professionals; |
---|
23 | 23 | | d.Representatives of the medical profession with experience in diagnosing and |
---|
24 | 24 | | treating Alzheimer's and dementia; |
---|
25 | 25 | | e.A representative of a leading national organization that advocates on behalf of |
---|
26 | 26 | | individuals living with Alzheimer's or dementia; and |
---|
27 | 27 | | f.A representative of an organization that advocates for older adults; |
---|
28 | 28 | | 3.Collect and disseminate Alzheimer's and dementia data through the use of data |
---|
29 | 29 | | collected by the state and use of the behavioral risk factor surveillance system, |
---|
30 | 30 | | including caregiver and cognitive decline models, on a rotating basis; and |

61 | 61 | | SECTION 2. APPROPRIATION - DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES - |

62 | 62 | | DEMENTIA RESPONSE PROGRAM - FULL -TIME EQUIVALENT POSITION. There is |

63 | 63 | | appropriated out of any moneys in the general fund in the state treasury, not otherwise |
---|
64 | 64 | | appropriated, the sum of $250,000, or so much of the sum as may be necessary, to the |
---|
65 | 65 | | department of health and human services for the purpose of administering the dementia |
---|
66 | 66 | | response program, the behavioral risk factor surveillance models, and for a full-time equivalent |
---|
67 | 67 | | position to administer the program as the state dementia coordinator, for the biennium |
---|
68 | 68 | | beginning July 1, 2025, and ending June 30, 2027. |
