12+WHEREAS, the 69

14+ Legislative Assembly recognizes that behavioral symptoms of
15+neurological conditions often result in incarceration, inappropriate placement in geriatric
16+psychiatry care facilities, long-term placement at the state hospital, and high rates of
17+homelessness; and
18+WHEREAS, the 69

20+ Legislative Assembly recognizes the value in collecting and analyzing
21+data regarding existing inpatient services, community-based services, and waivers for treatment
22+and support of individuals with neurological conditions;
23+NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
24+NORTH DAKOTA, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN:
25+That the Legislative Management consider studying inpatient services, community-based
26+services, and existing waivers for treatment and support of individuals with neurological
27+conditions and behavioral symptoms that put the individual at risk for incarceration,
28+inappropriate placement, or homelessness; and
29+BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that the study include an analysis of available data,
30+identification of gaps in services, a review of appropriate treatment and support services, and
31+recommendations for a waiver program, new level of care, and appropriate placement
32+guidelines, to fund and deliver services to meet the care and support needs of individuals living
33+with a neurological condition; and
34+BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that the Legislative Management report its findings and
35+recommendations, together with any legislation required to implement the recommendations, to
36+the Seventieth Legislative Assembly.

23-gaps in services, a review of appropriate treatment and support services, and recommendations for a
24-waiver program, new level of care, and appropriate placement guidelines, to fund and deliver services
25-to meet the care and support needs of individuals living with a neurological condition; and
26-BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that the Legislative Management report its findings and
27-recommendations, together with any legislation required to implement the recommendations, to the
