1111 WHEREAS, the North Dakota Department of Agriculture regulates hemp and other varieties
1212 of cannabis sativa for agriculture and industrial purposes; and
1313 WHEREAS, the tetrahydrocannabinol in cannabis beverages often is derived from hemp
1414 because it is legal to produce under federal law; and
1515 WHEREAS, tetrahydrocannabinol and cannabinoid hemp beverages are emerging in the
1616 national marketplace as an alternative to alcoholic beverage with fewer after effects;
1717 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF
1818 NORTH DAKOTA, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN:
1919 That the Legislative Management consider studying regulatory framework and potential
2020 economic impact of tetrahydrocannabinol infused beverages in the state; and
2121 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED , that the Legislative Management report its findings and
2222 recommendations, together with any legislation required to implement the recommendations, to
2323 the Seventieth Legislative Assembly.
