16	12		STATEMENT OF INTENT
17	13		This measure would require each resolution adopted by the legislative assembly proposing a
18	14		constitutional amendment and each initiative petition and measure proposing a constitutional
19	15		amendment to be comprised of a single subject.
20	16		BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE OF NORTH DAKOTA, THE HOUSE OF
21	17		REPRESENTATIVES CONCURRING THEREIN:
22	18		That the following proposed amendments to section 9 of article III and section 16 of
23	19		article IV of the Constitution of North Dakota are agreed to and must be submitted to the
24		-	qualified electors of North Dakota at the ~~primarygeneral~~ election to be held in ~~JuneNovember~~ of
25		-	~~2026, in~~ accordance with section 16 of article IV of the Constitution of North Dakota.

26	22		SECTION 1. AMENDMENT. Section 9 of article III of the Constitution of North Dakota is
27	23		amended and reenacted as follows:
28	24		Section 9. A constitutional amendment may be proposed by initiative petition. The
29	25		proposed amendment may not embrace or be comprised of more than one subject, as
30	26		determined by the secretary of state, and the secretary of state may not approve the initiative
31	27		petition for circulation if the proposed amendment comprises more than one subject. If signed
32	28		by electors equal in number to four percent of the resident population of the state at the last
33	29		federal decennial census, the petition may be submitted to the secretary of state. All other

63	60		SECTION 2. AMENDMENT. Section 16 of article IV of the Constitution of North Dakota is
64	61		amended and reenacted as follows:
65	62		Section 16. Any amendment to this constitution may be proposed in either house of the
66	63		legislative assembly, and if. The proposed amendment may not embrace or be comprised of
67	64		more than one subject. If agreed to upon a roll call by a majority of the members elected to
68	65		each house, must be submitted to the electors and if a majority of the votes cast thereonupon
69	66		the question are in the affirmative, the amendment is a part of this constitution.
