The following constitutes the reasons for this bill and the purposes which are sought to be
accomplished thereby:
LB144 makes changes to the veterans preference offered to veterans and their spouses seeking employment with
the State of Nebraska. Veterans preference will be factored into the applications for initial employment as well
as promotions, reassignments, transfers to a new position, and return to employment with the State.€
LB144 also extends veterans preference to spouses of currently serving servicemembers to ensure spouses who
move with their servicemembers are able to gain employment and integrate into the community.€
