LB 362 changes provisions of the Enhanced Wireless 911 Services Act.

Section 26 revises the definition of “Next	-generation 911” to mean an Internet protocol-based system that:

• Ensures interoperability;
• Is secure;
• Employs commonly accepted standards;
• Enables emergency communications centers to receive, process, and analyze all types of 911 requests for emergency
services;
• Acquires and integrates additional information useful to handling 911 requests for emergency services; and
• Supports sharing information related to 911 requests for emergency services among public safety answering points and
emergency service providers.

Section 42 includes regulatory responsibility of the 911 service system f	or the Public Service Commission.

Section 43 staggers the terms of members of the 911 Service System Advisory Committee so that no more than one-third of such
membership will expire at any one time.

LB 362 also changes the name of t	he act from “Enhanced Wireless 911 Services Act” to “911 Service System Act”.

Finally, LB 362 eliminates the Emergency Telephone Communications Systems Act. The provisions of this act are covered under the
911 Service System Act.

The Public Service Commission estimates no fiscal impact. This appears to be reasonable.

No fiscal impact.
