3455 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
3556 SECTION 1. Section 16-2-7.1 NMSA 1978 (being Laws 1999,
3657 Chapter 174, Section 2, as amended) is amended to read:
37-"16-2-7.1. FREE STATE PARK PASSES TO VETERANS.--
38-A. The state parks division of the energy,
39-minerals and natural resources department shall provide to a
40-veteran residing in the state:
41-(1) one day-use pass for unlimited entry
42-into state parks or recreation areas operated by the
43-division; and
44-(2) one camping pass for unlimited use of
45-camping areas operated by the division.
46-B. As used in this section, "veteran" means a New
47-Mexico resident who:
48-(1) was regularly enlisted, drafted,
49-inducted or commissioned in the:
50-(a) armed forces of the United States
51-and was accepted for and assigned to active duty in the armed HB 161

92+(2) one [three-day] camping pass [per year for
93+the] for unlimited use of camping areas operated by the
94+division [whether for consecutive or nonconsecutive days ].
95+B. [Proof of disability satisfactory to the
96+division is required to obtain the free passes ] As used in this
97+section, "veteran" means a New Mexico resident who:
98+(1) was regularly enlisted, drafted, inducted
99+or commissioned in the:
100+(a) armed forces of the United States
101+and was accepted for and assigned to active duty in the armed

79103 (b) army reserve, navy reserve, marine

82106 was accepted for and assigned to duty for a minimum of six

85109 commissioned corps or the national oceanic and atmospheric
86110 administration commissioned officer corps and served in the
87111 capacity of a commissioned officer while on active duty in
88112 defense of the United States; and
89-(2) was not separated from such service
90-under circumstances amounting to dishonorable discharge."
