2833 AN ACT
2934 RELATING TO PUBLIC HOLIDAYS; DECLARING AUGUST AS "NEW MEXICO
3035 RED AND GREEN CHILE MONTH".
3136 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
3237 SECTION 1. A new section of Chapter 12, Article 5 NMSA
3338 1978 is enacted to read:
34-"NEW MEXICO RED AND GREEN CHILE MONTH.--August of each
35-year shall be set apart and known as "Red and Green Chile
36-Month" in recognition of the impact chile has in New Mexico.
37-Chile represents the blending of cultures and traditions that
38-have shaped New Mexico over centuries. The rise from its
39-indigenous roots through its adoption by the Spanish settlers
40-to the chile's current status as a culinary superstar in New
41-Mexico symbolizes the status of New Mexico's unique identity.
42-Furthermore, chile is a vital economic driver, supporting
43-thousands of jobs and contributing significantly to the
44-agricultural economy of New Mexico."
