49	49	RELATING TO LICENSE PLATES; CREATING AN ALBUQUERQUE ISOTOPES
50	50	SPECIAL REGISTRATION PLATE; ALLOWING FOR THE CESSATION OF
51	51	SPECIAL LICENSE PLATE ISSUANCE UNDER CERTAIN CONDITIONS; MAKING
52	52	AN APPROPRIATION.
53	53	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
54	54	SECTION 1. A new section of Chapter 66, Article 3 NMSA
55	55	1978 is enacted to read:
56	56	"[NEW MATERIAL] ALBUQUERQUE ISOTOPES SPECIAL REGISTRATION
57	57	PLATE.--
58	58	A. Beginning January 1, 2026, the division shall
59	59	issue a standardized special registration plate with a logo
60	60	designed as specified in Section 66-3-424 NMSA 1978 to express
61	61	support for the Albuquerque Isotopes baseball team.
62	62	B. For a fee of thirty-five dollars ($35.00), which

90	90	shall be in addition to the regular motor vehicle registration
91	91	fees, a motor vehicle owner may apply for issuance of an
92	92	Albuquerque Isotopes special registration plate. The owner
93	93	shall pay a renewal fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) each
94	94	year to retain and renew the Albuquerque Isotopes special
95	95	registration plate.
96	96	C. Revenue from the fees imposed by Subsection B of
97	97	this section for a Albuquerque Isotopes special registration
98	98	plate shall be distributed as follows:
99	99	(1) twelve dollars ($12.00) of the initial fee
100	100	collected for each registration plate shall be retained by the
101	101	department and is appropriated to the department for the
102	102	manufacture and issuance of the special registration plates;
103	103	and
104	104	(2) the remaining portion of the initial fee
105	105	and the entire renewal fee collected for each registration
106	106	plate shall be distributed to and is appropriated to the board
107	107	of regents of the university of New Mexico for the Carrie
108	108	Tingley crippled children's hospital.
109	109	D. Beginning on July 1, 2031, and on July 1 of each
110	110	subsequent year, the department may compare the number of
111	111	Albuquerque Isotopes special registration plates issued and
112	112	renewed in the previous fiscal year with the average number of
113	113	such plates issued and renewed annually between fiscal years
114	114	2026 through 2031. If the department determines that the

145	145	fifty percent of the average number of the plates issued and
146	146	renewed annually between fiscal years 2026 through 2031, the
147	147	department may stop issuing Albuquerque Isotopes special
148	148	registration plates."
