3838 DECLARING FEBRUARY 10, 2025 "LAW ENFORCEMENT APPRECIATION DAY"
3939 IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES.
4040 WHEREAS, thousands of law enforcement officers are
4141 employed across New Mexico; and
4242 WHEREAS, law enforcement officers serve municipalities,
4343 counties, universities, tribes and the state; and
4444 WHEREAS, the New Mexico state police provides protection
4545 for the legislature while it is in session; and
4646 WHEREAS, law enforcement officers face dangerous and
4747 difficult situations to protect their communities; and
4848 WHEREAS, law enforcement officers may experience physical
4949 and mental health issues during the course of their service;

5151 WHEREAS, law enforcement agencies are lacking in resources

8080 WHEREAS, in recent years, law enforcement officers have
8181 not been shown the respect they deserve, resulting in law
8282 enforcement officer shortages across the state;
8383 NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF
8484 REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO that February 10,
8585 2025 be declared "Law Enforcement Appreciation Day" in the
8686 house of representatives; and
8787 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this memorial be
8888 transmitted to the chief of the New Mexico state police, the
8989 executive director of the New Mexico sheriffs' association for
9090 distribution to each county sheriff, the New Mexico municipal
9191 league and the police and sheriff's departments of New Mexico's
9292 Indian nations, tribes and pueblos and the federal bureau of
9393 Indian affairs.
