5050 MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE DEPARTMENT OF ENVIRONMENT TO

5555 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
5656 SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--Fifty million dollars
5757 ($50,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the
5858 department of environment for expenditure in fiscal years 2026
5959 through 2028 to assess and clean up abandoned or neglected
6060 contaminated sites, including abandoned uranium mining sites,
6161 across the state that do not have viable responsible parties to
6262 fund and conduct cleanup actions. Any unexpended or
6363 unencumbered balance remaining at the end of fiscal year 2028
