53	53	MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE BOARD OF REGENTS OF THE
54	54	UNIVERSITY OF NEW MEXICO TO OVERSEE THE PROGRAM COORDINATORS
55	55	AND CREATE AND MAINTAIN WEB PORTALS AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS TO
56	56	TRACK AND EVALUATE THE CITIZEN SCIENCE PROJECTS.
57	57	BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
58	58	SECTION 1. APPROPRIATIONS.--
59	59	A. One hundred thirty-seven thousand five hundred
60	60	dollars ($137,500) is appropriated from the general fund to
61	61	each of the following agencies for expenditure in fiscal year
62	62	2026 and subsequent fiscal years to contract for services for a

91	91	which members of the public volunteer to assist in conducting
92	92	scientific research and collecting data on wildlife. Any
93	93	unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a
94	94	fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund:
95	95	(1) the state parks division of the energy,
96	96	minerals and natural resources department;
97	97	(2) the department of environment; and
98	98	(3) the department of game and fish.
99	99	B. Two hundred thousand dollars ($200,000) is
100	100	appropriated from the general fund to the board of regents of
101	101	the university of New Mexico for expenditure in fiscal year
102	102	2026 and subsequent fiscal years for natural heritage New
103	103	Mexico, a program within the museum of southwestern biology and
104	104	the biology department of the university, to contract for
105	105	services to oversee citizen science project program
106	106	coordinators and create and maintain web portals and
107	107	information systems to track and evaluate the citizen science
108	108	projects described in Subsection A of this section. Any
109	109	unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of a
110	110	fiscal year shall not revert to the general fund.
