4949 MAKING AN APPROPRIATION FOR NEW POLICE DEPARTMENTS IN
5050 COMMUNITIES WITHIN VALENCIA COUNTY.
5151 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
5252 SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars
5353 ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the local
5454 government division of the department of finance and
5555 administration for expenditure in fiscal year 2026 for start-up
5656 costs for new police departments in communities within Valencia
5757 county with populations of up to five thousand. These funds
5858 are to be used for officers' salaries, training and equipment.
5959 Any unexpended or unencumbered balance remaining at the end of
6060 fiscal year 2026 shall revert to the general fund.
