4949 MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION AND

5252 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
5353 SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars
5454 ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the early
5555 childhood education and care department for expenditure in
5656 fiscal year 2026 to provide targeted, supplemental online math
5757 and reading support for students in pre-kindergarten through
5858 third grade for early intervention and strengthening of
5959 foundational literacy and numeracy skills. Funding shall be
6060 used to implement online evidence-based instructional programs
6161 grounded in the science of reading, provide professional
6262 development for educators and supply high-quality learning
