4949 MAKING AN APPROPRIATION TO THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE TO
5050 CREATE A PUBLIC RELATIONS CAMPAIGN AND AN IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM
5151 FOR MEMBERS OF INDIAN NATIONS, TRIBES AND PUEBLOS.
5252 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
5353 SECTION 1. APPROPRIATION.--One million dollars
5454 ($1,000,000) is appropriated from the general fund to the state
5555 department of justice for expenditure in fiscal year 2026 to
5656 facilitate the creation of a public relations campaign to
5757 apprise New Mexico residents of their rights if they are in
5858 danger of deportation or harassment by federal immigration
5959 officers. The campaign shall include the creation of an
6060 identification system for members of Indian nations, tribes and
6161 pueblos to provide verification of tribal membership, as well
6262 as a telephone hotline for verification of citizenship status.
