5858 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF NEW MEXICO:
5959 SECTION 1. [NEW MATERIAL] CORPORAL PUNISHMENT PROHIBITED
6060 IN EARLY CHILDHOOD, PRIMARY AND SECONDARY EDUCATION.--The

9090 and secondary education. The state or a political subdivision
9191 of the state shall not offer or grant any benefit to or execute
9292 a contract with a person who provides early childhood education
9393 and care or primary or secondary education unless the person
9494 has adopted a policy, or otherwise agrees in writing, to
9595 prohibit the use of corporal punishment on the person's
9696 premises. As used in this section, "benefit" includes
9797 financial assistance, permitting, licensing, accreditation,
9898 advantages or privileges.
