88 AN ACT relating to natural resources; requiring the Joint Interim
99 Standing Committee on Natural Resources to conduct an
1010 interim study of state agencies that regulate natural resources;
1111 and providing other matters properly relating thereto.
1212 Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
1313 Existing law creates the Joint Interim Standing Committee on Natural
1414 Resources, consisting of certain members of the Assembly and Senate, to study
1515 issues related to natural resources during the legislative interim period. (NRS
1616 218E.320, 218E.330) This bill requires the Committee to conduct a study during
1717 the 2023-2024 interim concerning state agencies that regulate natural resources in
1818 this State. The study must include, without limitation, an examination of the
1919 composition, mission and scope of such state agencies. The Committee must
2020 examine, without limitation, the Board of Wildlife Commissioners, the
2121 Commission on Mineral Resources, the State Department of Conservation and
2222 Natural Resources and the State Environmental Commission. Further, the
2323 Committee must submit a report of its findings and any recommendations for
2424 legislation relating to the study to the 83rd Session of the Nevada Legislature.

2929 THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
3030 SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

3232 Section 1. 1. The Joint Interim Standing Committee on
3333 Natural Resources shall conduct a study during the 2023-2024
3434 interim concerning state agencies that regulate natural resources.
3535 2. The study must include, without limitation, the examination
3636 of the composition, mission and scope of state agencies that regulate
3737 natural resources in this State.
3838 3. The Committee shall examine, without limitation:
3939 (a) The Board of Wildlife Commissioners;
4040 (b) The Commission on Mineral Resources;
4141 (c) The State Department of Conservation and Natural
4242 Resources; and
4343 (d) The State Environmental Commission.
4444 4. The Committee shall include its findings and
4545 recommendations for legislation relating to this study in the report
4646 required by subsection 4 of NRS 218E.330 to be prepared and
4747 submitted to the Director of the Legislative Counsel Bureau for
4848 transmittal to the 83rd Session of the Legislature.
4949 Sec. 2. This act becomes effective on July 1, 2023.
