AN ACT relating to governmental entities; requiring certain units of 
government of this State to accept certain forms of 
payment; and providing other matters properly relating 
thereto. 
Legislative Counsel’s Digest: 
 This bill requires, with certain exceptions, each officer, agency, branch, board, 1 
commission, department, division, bureau, district, city, county or other political 2 
subdivision or unit of government of this State to accept from a business entity as 3 
payment for any fee, tax or other debt, payment by debit card, credit card, check or 4 
electronic transfer of money.  5 
 
 
THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN 
SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS: 
 
 Section 1.  Chapter 237 of NRS is hereby amended by adding 1 
thereto a new section to read as follows: 2 
 1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, each 3 
governmental agency shall accept from a business entity as 4 
payment for any fee, tax or other debt to the governmental agency 5 
payment by debit card, credit card, check or electronic transfer of 6 
money.  7 
 2. The provisions of subsection 1 do not apply to payments 8 
made: 9 
 (a) Pursuant to NRS 353.1467; 10 
 (b) To the Department of Taxation pursuant to paragraph (b) 11 
of subsection 1 of NRS 360A.040; 12

 (c) To the Cannabis Compliance Board; 1 
 (d) To the Division of Insurance of the Department of 2 
Business and Industry; or 3 
 (e) To any court of the Judicial Department of State 4 
Government. 5 
 3. As used in this section: 6 
 (a) “Electronic transfer of money” has the meaning ascribed 7 
to it in NRS 353.1467. 8 
 (b) “Governmental agency” means an officer, agency, branch, 9 
board, commission, department, division, bureau, district, city, 10 
county or any other political subdivision or unit of government of 11 
this State. 12
