28	28	AN ACT relating to the Office of the Lieutenant Governor;
29	29	removing the prospective expiration of the Office of
30	30	Small Business Advocacy within the Office of the
31	31	Lieutenant Governor; and providing other matters
32	32	properly relating thereto.
33	33	Legislative Counsel’s Digest:
34	34	Existing law creates the Office of Small Business Advocacy within the Office 1
35	35	of the Lieutenant Governor. (NRS 224.160) The Office of Small Business 2
36	36	Advocacy is required to perform various duties relating to small businesses, 3
37	37	including: (1) providing certain information to small businesses, the public and 4
38	38	certain entities; (2) coordinating with certain state agencies and local governments 5
39	39	to facilitate interactions between such entities and small businesses; (3) attempting 6
40	40	to resolve complaints from small businesses; and (4) assisting small businesses to 7
41	41	understand their rights and responsibilities. (NRS 224.160, 224.170, 224.180) The 8
42	42	existing law which creates the Office of Small Business Advocacy is set to expire 9
43	43	by limitation on June 30, 2025. (Section 20 of chapter 240, Statutes of Nevada 10
44	44	2021, at page 1154, as amended by chapter 447, Statutes of Nevada 2023, at page 11
45	45	2734) This bill removes the prospective expiration of the Office of Small Business 12
46	46	Advocacy, thereby retaining the Office of Small Business Advocacy within the 13
47	47	Office of the Lieutenant Governor. 14

54	54	THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF NEVADA, REPRESENTED IN
55	55	SENATE AND ASSEMBLY, DO ENACT AS FOLLOWS:

57	57	Section 1. Section 20 of chapter 240, Statutes of Nevada 2021, 1
58	58	as amended by chapter 447, Statutes of Nevada 2023, at page 2743, 2
59	59	is hereby amended to read as follows: 3
60	60	Sec. 20. 1. This section becomes effective upon 4
61	61	passage and approval. 5
62	62	2. Sections 1 to 19, inclusive, of this act [: 6
63	63	(a) Become] become effective: 7
64	64	[(1)] (a) Upon passage and approval for the purpose of 8
65	65	adopting any regulations and performing any other 9
66	66	preparatory administrative tasks that are necessary to carry 10
67	67	out the provisions of this act; and 11
68	68	[(2)] (b) On July 1, 2021, for all other purposes. 12
69	69	[(b) Expire by limitation on June 30, 2025.] 13
