Requires the department of education to study and report on the self-identified ethnicity and multilingual status of all licensed social workers and provide such report to the governor and legislature no later than one year after the effective date of this act.
Creates the child care professionals loan forgiveness incentive program for applicants who agree to engage in employment in the child care field; establishes the eligibility for such awards; establishes the amount and duration of such awards.
Creates a service learning program for students serving as active volunteer firefighters or volunteer ambulance workers; mandates certain features of such program.
Allows a licensed psychologist to apply to the department of education for conditional prescribing certification if the psychologist meets certain requirements; allows the department of education to waive certain requirements for an applying psychologist; provides that a conditional prescribing certification shall be valid for a period of two years.
Extends scholarship eligibility for certain scholarships to students who have a certificate of graduation from a recognized high school within New York state from the two thousand thirteen--fourteen school year or after, or the recognized equivalent of such certificate, or received a passing score on a federally approved ability to benefit test that has been identified by the board of regents as satisfying the eligibility requirements and has been independently administered and evaluated as defined by the commissioner of education.
Provides that each state and city college or university assign a personal identification number to each application for acceptance to be used during the admissions process in place of any other identifying information including names and addresses.
Requires educational institutions with an endowment of 10 billion dollars or more to incorporate thirty percent affordable housing units in any property owned by such institution that provides any form of housing.
Provides that a scholarship for academic excellence that is declined by a student or is revoked for any reason shall be granted to the next most qualified student.
Extends certain provisions of law relating to requiring regulations to permit tuition waivers for certain firefighters and fire officers for CUNY until July 1, 2026.
Relates to temporary authorizations for practice as a registered nurse, licensed practical nurse, or physician; extends the effectiveness of certain provisions relating thereto.
Relates to a podiatry study and report by the commissioner of education, in consultation with the commissioner of health on the implementation of chapter 438 of the laws of 2012, as amended, authorizing the issuance of a privilege to perform podiatric standard or advanced ankle surgery and the impact of granting such a privilege on access to and quality of podiatric ankle surgery; makes related provisions.
Establishes a statewide program to provide free SUNY, CUNY, and community college tuition to active volunteer firefighters, volunteer emergency medical services providers, and volunteer auxiliary police officers.
