Requires primary care physicians to post certain information detailing how parents or guardians of infants and children can subscribe to the United States consumer product safety commission's e-mail subscription lists.
Prohibits mandatory arbitration agreements in consumer and employment contracts; repeals existing provisions prohibiting mandatory arbitration clauses in certain consumer contracts.
Exempts certain timesharing plans involving ten or fewer purchasers from certain filing requirements relating to real estate investments; excludes New York City.
Requires businesses to notify consumers of an upcoming automatic renewal or continuous service charge to the consumer's account forty-five days prior to such charge; requires businesses to include instructions on how to cancel such renewal or charge in the notice to the consumer.
Requires hotel, motel and inn keepers to offer, in the registration office, condoms or similar prophylactic devices for sale to registered guests of such hotel, motel or inn.
Prohibits deceptive rate advertising for certain accommodations; requires advertised rates to be inclusive of all taxes and automatic fees; requires the non-inclusive rate, and an itemized list of taxes and automatic fees to be provided to the consumer prior to a person finalizing his or her purchase.
Prohibits the sale of second-use lithium-ion batteries intended for use in a bicycle with electric assist, an electric scooter or a limited use motorcycle; provides penalties for violations.
Requires any person, firm or corporation offering any dairy product, meat, meat by-product, meat food product or perishable food item for sale in the state to label such product with an expiration date clearly visible in a conspicuous location; provides that such date shall be the time after which such item is unfit for human consumption as determined by industry standards; provides that no such products shall be allowed to remain on display or offered for sale after such date.
Directs the department of state and the public service commission to study and report upon the prevalence of the disclosure by public utilities, cable television companies and cellular telephone service providers to credit reporting agencies of late payments and defaults in payment of fees and charges by consumers.
Provides the NYC water board shall not establish a limit of less than six years to challenge any fee, rate, rent or other service charges for the use of or services furnished by the water board and/or sewerage systems.
