Relates to fines for false alarms by an alarm system; allows a municipality to enact, adopt or enforce any ordinance, resolution or regulation requiring any alarm system company to pay for or be responsible for any fines, fees or other penalties relative to false alarms only when the false alarm is attributed to a deficiency in the alarm system or an error of the alarm system company or central station.
Relates to establishing the online consumer protection act; defines terms; provides that an advertising network shall post clear and conspicuous notice on the home page of its own website about its privacy policy and its data collection and use practices related to its advertising delivery activities; makes related provisions.
Requires sellers of catalytic converters to provide certain information to potential buyers; requires buyers to maintain records of such purchases; makes any violations a class A misdemeanor; imposes a fine of up to $5,000
Establishes the water-based fire protection licensure act, setting forth licensure requirements for contractors engaged in the business of the layout, installing, repairing, inspecting, testing, or maintaining of water-based fire protection systems and components.
Restricts automatic renewal of contracts for electronic and life safety alarm services; makes such automatic renewal provisions unenforceable unless: the automatic renewal offer terms or continuous service offer terms are presented to the consumer in a clear and conspicuous manner; the business or person furnishing the electronic and life safety alarm service obtains the consumer's affirmative consent; and such renewal or continuous service offer provides an acknowledgment of the contract cancellation policy, and information regarding how to cancel in a manner that is capable of being retained by the consumer.
Relates to prohibitions on fur products; prohibits the manufacture, sale, display for sale, trade, giving, donating, or otherwise distributing of a fur product by any means in the state beginning twenty-four months after this act becomes a law.
Relates to mercantile establishments and the defense of lawful detention; sets requirements that the release from detention shall not be conditioned on signing of any documents or agreements; provides if anything is signed a copy must be provided to the individual or their parent or guardian.
Establishes the parking protection act; provides that parking facilities shall display a sign stating the current applicable price of parking at such facilities; includes provisions on when a motor vehicle may be towed or immobilized; provides a limit to the cost of towing and storage of a vehicle.
Enacts the manufacturer disclosure and transparency act requiring prescription drug manufacturers to notify the attorney general of arrangements between pharmaceutical manufacturers resulting in the delay of the introduction of generic medications.
Requires portable electronic devices distributed after January 1, 2026 to automatically disable their texting and computer functions when the holder is operating a motor vehicle over 10 miles an hour; eliminates the exemption from provisions, relating to the use of portable electronic devices in motor vehicles, granted to commercial motor vehicles, police, firefighters and emergency vehicle operators.
Relates to price gouging; defines unconscionably excessive price for the purposes of prohibiting price gouging during abnormal disruption of the market.
