AUBRY -- read once and referred to the Committee on Insurance AN ACT to amend the insurance law, in relation to motor vehicle insur- ance rate reductions for participation in certain anti-theft programs The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 2336 of the insurance law is amended by adding a 2 new subsection (i) to read as follows: 3 (i) Any schedule or rating plan for non-commercial private passenger 4 automobile insurance shall provide for an appropriate reduction in 5 premium charges for comprehensive coverage with respect to any insured 6 vehicle enrolled by the owner in the "Combat Auto Theft (C.A.T.) 7 program" or any other motor vehicle theft prevention program established 8 pursuant to section two hundred twenty-three of the vehicle and traffic 9 law, in any municipality participating in such program. 10 § 2. Section 2342 of the insurance law, as amended by section 1 of 11 item JJ of subpart B of part XXX of chapter 58 of the laws of 2020, is 12 amended to read as follows: 13 § 2342. Expiration of certain provisions. The provisions of subsection 14 (c) of section two thousand three hundred seven, section two thousand 15 three hundred eight, subsection (a) of section two thousand three 16 hundred ten, sections two thousand three hundred sixteen, two thousand 17 three hundred twenty, two thousand three hundred twenty-three, two thou- 18 sand three hundred twenty-six, and two thousand three hundred thirty- 19 five, and [subsection] subsections (b) and (i) of section two thousand 20 three hundred thirty-six of this article shall cease to be of any force 21 or effect during the period August third, two thousand one through the 22 day before the effective date of the property/casualty insurance avail- 23 ability act, and after June thirtieth, two thousand twenty-three. 24 § 3. This act shall take effect immediately, provided that subsection 25 (i) of section 2336 of the insurance law, as added by section one of 26 this act, shall be subject to, and shall expire in accordance with, 27 section 2342 of the insurance law, as from time to time amended.
