Permits a funeral director with written consent of a regulated cemetery corporation to provide remains which remain unclaimed after one hundred twenty days to such corporation for disposition.
Authorizing the disposition of the unclaimed remains of deceased persons by district coroners and providing exemptions from liability for such actions.
Requires DMVA provide central registry of unclaimed cremains of veterans, spouses, and dependents; requires funeral director report to DMVA possession of unclaimed veteran, spouse, and dependent cremains.
Relating to funeral services; to amend Section 34-13-122, Code of Alabama 1975; to define dignified and humane manner for the disposition of cremated remains; and to mandate best efforts to identify the unclaimed cremated remains of Alabama veterans eligible for burial in a state or national military cemetery.
