BLANKENBUSH, WALSH -- read once and referred to the Committee on Local Governments AN ACT to amend chapter 668 of the laws of 1977, amending the volunteer firefighters' benefit law, relating to disability due to disease or malfunction of the heart or coronary arteries, in relation to making such provisions permanent The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Sections 4 and 5 of chapter 668 of the laws of 1977, amend- 2 ing the volunteer firefighters' benefit law, relating to disability due 3 to disease or malfunction of the heart or coronary arteries, section 4 4 as amended by section 1 of item CC of subpart B of part XXX of chapter 5 58 of the laws of 2020, are amended to read as follows: 6 § 4. [The provisions of section two of this act shall remain in full 7 force and effect to and including the thirtieth day of June, 2025. 8 § 5.] This act shall take effect on the first day of July next 9 succeeding the date on which it shall have become a law, or if signed 10 after the first day of July, nineteen hundred seventy-seven, shall take 11 effect immediately, and shall apply only in cases where the injury caus- 12 ing death or disability occurred on or after such date of taking effect. 13 § 2.
