PRETLOW -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Racing and Wagering AN ACT to amend the racing, pari-mutuel wagering and breeding law, in relation to permitting drug-free adhesive breathing devices The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. The racing, pari-mutuel wagering and breeding law is 2 amended by adding a new section 218-a to read as follows: 3 § 218-a. Equipment regulated. Only equipment specifically approved by 4 the stewards shall be worn or carried by a jockey or a horse in a race; 5 provided, however, the use of any drug-free adhesive breathing device, 6 consisting of a non-irritating adhesive and constructed of United States 7 food and drug administration approved medical-grade components that 8 assists in the reduction of airway resistance within the nasal cavity of 9 a horse during any race meeting shall not be prohibited. 10 § 2.
