Clarifies the scope of protections against discrimination on the basis of disability under the New York state human rights law in the areas of employment, public accommodations and government services to be consistent with the federal Americans with Disabilities Act and the current policies and practices of the division of human rights.
Protects the rights of persons with disabilities to be accompanied by a guide dog or service dog in a place of public accommodation or housing accommodation; imposes a misdemeanor penalty for violations; requires the division of human rights to conduct a public awareness and education campaign.
Requires employers to annually report to the division of human rights the number of settlements with employees and other individuals performing services in the workplace regarding claims of discrimination on the basis of sex, including verbal and physical sexual harassment; requires the division of human rights to provide an annual report to the governor and the legislature; makes conforming technical changes.
