CUNNINGHAM -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to amend the vehicle and traffic law, in relation to requiring that a certain amount of handicapped parking spaces at certain shop- ping centers or facilities are equipped with electric vehicle charging stations The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Section 1203-c of the vehicle and traffic law is amended by 2 adding a new subdivision 2-a to read as follows: 3 2-a. Any person, firm or corporation owning a shopping center or 4 facility covered by subdivision one of this section which has more than 5 one hundred off street parking spaces shall designated a minimum of one 6 percent of such parking spaces or five such spaces, whichever is less, 7 as a handicapped space that is equipped with an electric vehicle charg- 8 ing station that is available for public use. 9 § 2. This act shall take effect on the one hundred eightieth day after 10 it shall have become a law. EXPLANATION--Matter in italics (underscored) is new; matter in brackets [ ] is old law to be omitted.
