  STATE OF NEW YORK ________________________________________________________________________ 5313 2023-2024 Regular Sessions  IN ASSEMBLY March 7, 2023 ___________ Introduced by M. of A. CHANG -- read once and referred to the Committee on Transportation AN ACT to direct the New York state department of transportation and the New York city department of transportation to conduct a study on park- ing availability; and providing for the repeal of such provisions upon the expiration thereof The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. 1. The New York state department of transportation and the 2 New York city department of transportation are authorized and directed 3 to conduct a joint study on parking availability along the portion of 4 8th avenue between 39th street and 73rd street in the borough of Brook- 5 lyn in the city of New York. Such study shall include: 6 (a) the quantity of parking for passenger vehicles, delivery vehicles, 7 and two-wheeled motor vehicles; 8 (b) whether such parking is sufficient for the needs of the businesses 9 along 8th avenue and their customers; 10 (c) whether such parking is sufficient for the needs of the residents 11 of 8th avenue; and 12 (d) the estimated cost of constructing sufficient parking to meet the 13 combined needs of the parties described in paragraphs (b) and (c) of 14 this subdivision. 15 2. No later than one year after the effective date of this act, the 16 New York state department of transportation and the New York city 17 department of transportation shall deliver a report of the findings of 18 the study conducted pursuant to subdivision one of this section to the 19 governor, the temporary president of the senate, the speaker of the 20 assembly and the mayor of the city of New York. 21 § 2. This act shall take effect immediately and shall expire and be 22 deemed repealed eighteen months after such date.
