BRABENEC -- read once and referred to the Commit- tee on Real Property Taxation -- committee discharged, bill amended, ordered reprinted as amended and recommitted to said committee AN ACT in relation to authorizing Congregation RSK to receive retroac- tive real property tax exempt status The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and Assem- bly, do enact as follows: 1 Section 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, 2 the assessor of the county of Rockland is hereby authorized to accept 3 from Congregation RSK an application for exemption from real property 4 taxes pursuant to section 420-a of the real property tax law with 5 respect to the 2021-2022 assessment rolls with such parcel being located 6 at 68 Highview Road, in the hamlet of Monsey, town of Ramapo otherwise 7 known as Rockland county tax map section 56.06, block 1, lot 15. If 8 accepted, the application shall be reviewed as if it had been received 9 on or before the taxable status dates established for such rolls. 10 If satisfied that such organization would otherwise be entitled to 11 such exemption if such organization had acquired the subject property 12 and filed an application for exemption by the appropriate taxable status 13 date, the assessor, upon approval by the Rockland county legislature, 14 may grant exemption from all taxation and make appropriate corrections 15 to the subject rolls. If such exemption is granted and such organization 16 therefore shall have paid any tax with respect to the subject rolls, the 17 governing body or tax department may, in its sole discretion, provide 18 for the refund of those taxes paid and cancel any taxes, fines, penal- 19 ties, interest or tax liens remaining unpaid. 20 § 2.
